Car description

The 1968 Porsche 911 S Targa is a true gem in the world of classic motoring, embodying the spirit of sport and the brand's tradition. For those who seek dynamic driving experiences or value the appreciation of their automotive investments, this car is an ideal choice. The 911 model debuted as the 901 in 1963, equipped with a two-liter boxer engine generating 130 HP. A few years later, in 1968, the 911 series was split into three versions: 911 T (base), 911 L (luxury), and 911 S (sport) – the latter being the most desirable and the most expensive of the range. The Porsche 911 S offered not only a power increase to an impressive 160 HP but also unique details such as five-spoke Fuchs wheels, front and rear suspension stabilizers, ventilated brakes, and additional decorative strips that emphasized its sporty character.

The Targa version, produced in only 442 units, is the quintessence of elegance and uniqueness. Interestingly, this version was never offered in the United States, making it even more exclusive. Our example, being the 235th of the mentioned 442 units, is a testament to exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. It underwent a thorough restoration over 10 years ago at the renowned workshop of Piotr Bem, specializing in Porsche 356 and 911 models from before 1973. Since then, it has covered only 2200 km, and its condition still amazes – from the immaculate paint to the perfectly fitted hoods and doors, to the high operating culture of the engine. Every detail of this car confirms the quality of workmanship, and the complete documentation from the restoration process as well as the Porsche certificate attest to the authenticity and conformity of the engine numbers and body color.

It is worth mentioning that Piotr Bem has also completed other remarkable restorations, including a Ferrari Dino 246 GTS, which achieved a record price of 635,000 euros at the RM Sotheby’s auction in Paris, making it the most expensive sold Dino of this version. This success speaks to the workshop's reputation and the unparalleled quality of its work.

The 911 S Targa we are presenting is not only an excellent restoration but also comes with unique equipment. It features the characteristic houndstooth pattern, Hella fog lights, a Blaupunkt radio, and all the attributes of the "S" version, such as stabilizers, stronger brakes, and a six-cylinder, two-liter engine with two triple carburetors, developing 160 HP. Compared to the base 911 T version, which has an output of 110 HP, our Targa offers much more excitement behind the wheel, making driving it an incredibly satisfying experience.

The price of 429,999 PLN seems very attractive, considering the quality of the restoration, technical condition, and collectible value of this example. The cheapest available Porsche 911 S in similar condition costs significantly more, making this offer a real opportunity for lovers of classic cars and investments in vehicles with increasing value.
