Car description

The 1972 De Tomaso Pantera is one of the most fascinating and original automotive creations of the 1970s. This car, with its mid-mounted engine, referenced the most extreme designs of its era, such as the Lamborghini Miura or the Maserati Bora. However, instead of exotic Italian mechanics, the Pantera was equipped with a more down-to-earth yet powerful V8 sourced from American Ford. This unusual combination of Italian design and American technology made the Pantera a unique vehicle that offered experiences and thrills on par with much more expensive Italian exotics, but at a more accessible price. The beautiful body silhouette, designed by the Italian studio Ghia, contributed to the immortality of this model, which remains a dream for many automotive enthusiasts today.

The De Tomaso Pantera is the result of a collaboration between the Italian manufacturer and the American giant Ford. The mid-mounted Cleveland 5.8 L V8 engine, generating 320 HP, delivers incredible driving sensations, while the open gearbox from ZF, requiring a firm hand, adds a brutal character to this car. The body, designed by Tom Tjarda, was assembled by Vignale, further emphasizing the uniqueness of this model. In 1972, the Pantera cost $10,000, which was incomparably lower than the $25,000 for a Ferrari, while still offering a similar level of excitement and thrills.

The presented example is a beautiful 1972 De Tomaso Pantera, in Pre-L version, with a low mileage of probably 36,000 miles. The car is very original and has undergone a partial restoration that was completed in 2017. The scope of work included new paint, new suspension, and mechanical improvements, making the car look stunning. Its visual and technical condition is at a very high level, making it an ideal choice for a collector or a classic car enthusiast.

The Pantera is a car that is neither delicate nor refined – it is an absolute brute, full of raw power and untamed temperament. Although it competed with Ferrari, it had a completely different character. It is vulgar, somewhat unruly, but that is exactly what makes it so appealing. It is a car that demands a firm hand from the driver, but in return offers unforgettable experiences that are hard to find in contemporary vehicles.

The price of 430,000 PLN reflects the value of this exceptional specimen, which combines Italian design, American power, and the unique character of the 1970s. The De Tomaso Pantera is not just a car – it is a legend that still evokes emotions and reminds us of a time when motoring was full of passion, courage, and true power.
